Eminem and Lionel Richie are new Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, while A Tribe Called Quest didn’t make the cut.
The 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class is here. On Tuesday, it was announced that Eminem and Lionel Richie have been inducted to the legendary Rock Hall, along with Dolly Parton – who initially declined to accept her nomination – along with Duran Duran, Carly Simon, Eurythmics and Pat Benatar. Eminem has been inducted in his first year of eligibility, as his his debut album Infinite released in 1996.
Additional acts who were nominated to the Rock Hall included A Tribe Called Quest, Dionne Warwick and Fela Kuti, with LL Cool J and JAY-Z being inducted into the music institution last year. Along with the performer category, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis will be honored with the Musical Excellence Award, Harry Belafonte will receive the Early Influence Award and the Ahmet Ertegun Award will be awarded to late Sugarhill Records founder Sylvia Robinson and Interscope and Beats founder Jimmy Iovine.
