Death Row Records Under Snoop Dogg Reportedly Won’t Include 2Pac or Dr. Dre Albums

Snoop Dogg is Bacc on Death Row but there’s a catch — the previously announced acquisition deal doesn’t include some of the label’s most popular releases. According to Billboard, 2Pac albums All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory are technically “no longer on the label”. While Dr. Dre’s album The Chronic might not return to Death Row Records until 2023, inadvertently making Snoop Dogg the only best-selling artist on the label.

While specifics of the deal are being negotiated, previous label owners MNRK Music Group and investment firm Blackstone currently have the rights to Death Row Records’ catalog entries.

Despite not having ownership of 2Pac and Dr. Dre’s only Death Row releases, Snoop has teased a joint venture with Bad Boy Records.

In the 43-minute-long short film accompanying his new album BODR, Snoop briefly spoke with Diddy who congratulated him on the acquisition. Snoop then offered an opportunity for their respective labels to join forces. “Now, we can do what we want to do, Death Row and Bad Boy,” he said, to which Diddy agreed. “I’m going to put it in the air, quit playing with me. I’m going to put it in the air, n***a, we left n***as hanging,” Snoop added.

Days before headlining the Super Bowl LVI halftime show earlier this month, Snoop announced that he’d officially acquired Death Row Records.
