Dave Chappelle is The Comeback Kid. After walking away from a reported $50 million dollar contract with Comedy Central, on principle, Chappelle has had an epic year. He landed a Netflix deal that allegedly made up for what he sacrificed by leaving Chappelle’s Show in 2005, and, over the Summer he had a historic residency at Radio City Music Hall in New York, that landed him another $11.5 million.
Rather than a multi-year contract like he had at Comedy Central, Chappelle’s Netflix deal was tied to him delivering 3 specials, two of which he already had in the can. After releasing the first two sets in March, Chappelle is gearing up for the rollout of his third and final installment, which arrives on New Year’s Eve.
In November, Chappelle released a short trailer for the special, titled Equanimity, in which he spoofed Netflix’s breakout hit, Stranger Things. Now, he has shared a clip from the routine and, in typical Chappelle fashion, it is a slow build that is totally worth it.
Take a look at the clip and tune in on December 31st for the full show.
