Blu and Shafiq Husayn have frequently collaborated throughout their respective careers, from Blu’s 2013 project York to 2018’s The Blueprint mixtape. The two have once again united for another, Out Of The Blue.
“The Blueprint was just me rhyming over some of Shafiq’s beats that I found online,” Blu explains. “This time we were actually in the studio together. We’ve been working together since 2008, but this is our first official album.”
Led by the single “Roll Up,” the 14-song drop features the likes of Jimetta Rose, Donel Smokes, TiRon, MED, Exile, Chuuwee, Thurz, Speed Walton, and others. “Out Of The Blue is my G-Funk album,” Blu continues. “Big brother Shafiq gave us a master class in production. We just in here being funky and having fun.”
