Ahead of their performance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Black Star have shared the music video for their Madlib-produced track “So Be It.”
The black-and-white video for the track shows the two reuniting for a recent string of concerts in support of their second album No Fear of Time, which they finally shared after over two decades earlier this year. “Our value is in our performance and how we connect with our audience,” Talib Kweli told Consequence of the video. “We wanted to provide a visual that showcases that for the core fans.”
He added that their performance on SNL this weekend will be a “career milestone” for them both. “I can’t recall seeing a more hip-hop, a more independent group than Black Star to ever do SNL,” he said. “So I’m definitely excited to represent for the culture.” Not long after they show up on SNL with host Dave Chappelle, the pair will play a last-minute show at New York City’s Sony Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 15, per Brooklyn Vegan.
To coincide with the arrival of the new video and the SNL debut, they have shared the teaser for the second season of their podcast with Chappelle, The Midnight Miracle. The new episodes are set to premiere soon.
