Former Black Liberation Army member Mutulu Shakur, 72, has been released from federal prison during a 60-year sentence.
Mutulu Shakur, stepfather of the late Tupac Shakur, has been released from prison.Mutulu, 72, was released on Friday (December 16) after serving 38 years for a 1981 armor truck incident that left two Nyack cops and a security guard dead.
Although terminally ill with bone marrow cancer, Mutulu was granted release by the US Parole Commission.
“The decision to grant parole is based on federal law guidelines for ‘old law’ prisoners, finding that Dr. Shakur poses no threat to the community,” reads a statement on a website maintained by Mutulu’s supporters.
