Those of you who were able to join us for this event last year know what's about to go down! This year we are moving USM to MEZZANINE!

The 4th of July weekend can be a time of ambivalence. On the one hand, it’s the absolute definition of summer: a time to relax with friends and family. On the other hand, it calls up the complex history and politics of the US, brutal injustices existing along side timeless ideas of democratic inclusiveness.

This 3RD OF JULY, thePeople & fresco invite you to dance your joy and your pain as a celebration of freedom and a prayer of peace for the world-family.

Our resident PEOPLE djs, Be Brown, Cali and Cecil will be joined by Hakobo (one of the masterminds behind the Wonderful and Soul Slam parties) as we take the vibe across the bridge to MEZZANINE where the whole family will fit comfortably and we can stretch out the night and fill it with rhythm.
We will be featuring some AMAZING MUSIC, delicious eats, wonderful artisan vendors PLUS a very special DANCE PERFORMANCE by FLO-OLOGY & FLOORganics! Times are tough so it's $5 at the door ALL NIGHT LONG!!!

So save the date and let folks know... July 3th, it’s on. Sending big love to the family.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
