Tribute Live! Series | Bay Legends Edition
Paying homage to Bay Area Music Legends

w/ Kev Choice Ensemble & Surprise Guests
+ DJ D Sharp

Tribute Live! Series Pays Homage to Bay Legends

Following in the vein of past musical homages to A Tribe Called Quest, Michael Jackson and Prince, on Friday December 18 at the Shattuck Down Low, the Kev Choice Ensemble presents its most ambitious tribute yet: Bay Legends.

The 10-piece jazz/funk/soul/hip-hop band, led by pianist/keyboardist/emcee Kev Choice, and featuring saxophonists Howard Wiley, trumpeter Geechie Taylor, and vocalist Viveca Hawkins, celebrates the Bay Area’s rich musical legacy with a selection of songs originally done by Sly and The Family Stone, Tower of Power, Lenny Williams, ConFunkShun, Tony! Toni! Toné!, Larry Graham, Digital Underground, M.C. Hammer, Tupac, Too Short, Mac Dre, En Vogue, Carlos Santana, Boz Scaggs, and more. Special guest artists include some of the Bay Legends themselves!

Check the Kev Choice website (www.KevChoice.com) the week of 12/14-12/18 for your “Daily Dosage” of exclusive remakes and updates of Bay Area music.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
