On Friday, July 22, the premier purveyors of full flavored Detroit boom bap, Slum Village, is set to play the intimate confines of the New Parish in Oakland. SlumVillage members, T3 and legendary beatmaker J-Dilla’s little brother, Illa J, will be performing songs from the full SV catalogue from Fantastic to present. Before Slum Village hits the stage, DJ Mr.E will be rocking a J-Dilla tribute set on the decks so expect a night full of viscous soulful beats and potent rhyme schemes.
