The Muslim Student Association would like to invite you to the "Sing for Syria" fundraiser for Syrian humanitarian relief, featuring Recording Artist and Social activist KHALED M!! This is part 2 in our "sing for countries in need" series and will include some DOPE Bay Area artists as special guests: HBO Def Poet Mark Gonzales and Hip hop artist/activist Sellassie. (More info on artists below)

Tickets are 5$ for USF students, 10$ for USF faculty, and 15$ for everyone else (tickets will be sold at the door). 100% of the proceeds will go to Islamic Relief. For more information on Islamic Relief, please visit http://www.irusa.org/

A representative from the Syrian American Council (SAC) as well as Islamic Relief (IR) will be explaining the complex situation in Syria as well as how Islamic Relief is helping the Syrian people, who so desperately need it right now.

Please join us for the evening in standing in solidarity with the Syrian people through hip-hop! It's going to be EPIC.

Khaled M 
Son of a Libyan revolutionary, Khaled M is a Chicago-based Libyan-American hip hop artist who was born into the struggle. The reigning Chicago Urban Music Awards “Lyricist of the Year” has been featured on CNN, Rolling Stone, ABC World News, Yahoo! News, BBC, Complex Magazine, NPR and more. With a story fit for a Hollywood script, a loyal international fan base and a live show setting stages ablaze, it’s no wonder he was listed as one of CNN’s “Most Interesting People.”

Mark Gonzales
Poet. Scholar. Lover of Life. | Mark Gonzales is an HBO Def Poet with a Master’s in Education, a Mexican & a Muslim, a lyrical break dance cipher between Gibran & Neruda living in the centers of intersections. He is currently an artist in residence and visiting professor for the Institute of Diversity in the Arts at Stanford University.

San Francisco Revolutionary Poet and Activist Sellassie carved his niche as a leading progressive voice in Bay Area Hip Hop. 2009 West Coast Hip Hop Award winner for “Knowledge Album of the Year”. His latest release, Sins Of Your Forefathers, is a groundbreaking blend of deep socio-political ideas, ghetto realities and non-traditional beats from a rap artist, thinker and leader from the streets.
