Let’s face it. Things aren’t going great: a bad economy, a horrible job market, never ending wars, exorbitant rent prices, dysfunctional relationships, mental illness, addiction, poverty, corruption, STDs, Rihanna. While there isn’t a cure for all of life’s problems, there is a tonic…

MISERY INDEX is a free, monthly show that brings together some of the most pessimistic, neurotic & dysfunctional individuals on the face of the planet: stand-up comedians. Take the edge off with cheap drinks and free laughs as these choleric comics direct their disdain towards all of society’s growing ills.

December’s lineup features maladjusted mirth makers Matt Gubser (SF Sketchfest), Natasha Muse (Cobb’s), Ivan Hernandez (Bridgetown Comedy Fest), Josef Anolin (Laughs on Laughs), Jenn Dronsky (SF Punchline), Nick Palm (Comedy Royale) and Jessica Sele (Seattle Comedy Underground). Hosted by Trevor Hill.

Every First Monday of the Month!

The Rite Spot is a cozy Mission dive that features local bands, comedians and performers. A rare San Francisco luxury set in an unpretentious atmosphere featuring Italian-American food, a full bar and an excellent wine list. “Aside from a little low conversation and the occasional clink of a glass, people are there to listen, and what they’re listening to is top-notch.” -SF Weekly

Sparoh’s “Panama” Delivers a Powerful Message of Confidence and Creative Freedom

Sparoh is an Atlanta-based artist creating music at the crossroads of melodic trap, alternative pop, and punk-fueled rebellion. Equal parts vulnerable and unapologetic, her work explores identity, liberation, and the complexities of Black womanhood.Raised in the DMV on a foundation of jazz, funk, and blues, Sparoh was drawn early to artists who challenged convention and redefined what was possible.
