Dub Mission welcomes back MIGHTY DUB KILLAZ (MDK) featuring JANAKA SELEKTA on turntables and electronics; PAPA ROADS on vocals; and special guest ANTHONY DELLAVALLE on horns. On this night, MDK will preview songs from their upcoming album, Real Talk, and celebrate the release of Janaka’s CD, Pushing Air, on Chaiwalla Boombox Records.

MIGHTY DUB KILLAZ:
In early of 2009, Janaka Selekta and Papa Roads began to explore the meeting point of Papa's reggae and soul roots and Janaka's DJ and production wizardry. Over the course of many studio sessions and shows, a new sound and fresh album has evolved. MDK conveys the urban life experience of Papa Roads through the prism of Janaka Selekta's production techniques and their joint music writing. The conscious lyrics of MDK bring a positive message of overcoming. Papa calls the sound “conscious dance music with heavy socio-political overtones.” With Papa Roads delivering the WORDS and Janaka Selekta creating the SOUND together they are the POWER.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
