On this night dr. ISRAEL will be playing with live drummer CLIFF TUNE (Con Brio & Artemis). He’ll be performing live versions from his newly remixed Ghetto defendant EP, (whose release we’ll be celebrating) along with a selection of his original hit tunes of classic dancehall, roots reggae, dub and dubstep in a special high energy sound system show.

dr. Israel is a Brooklyn based revolutionary artist, with releases on ROIR Records, Wordsound, and MOD Tech, as well as collaborations and remixes with legends such as Bill Laswell, Mad Professor, Dr No, Sepultura, Rancid, Sublime, Lee Perry, Bernie Worrell, DJ Krush, and beyond.  He has received accolades from Rolling Stone, Vibe, LA Times, and Village Voice, among others.  Following up on a long and fruitful discography including ‘Inna City Pressure’ and ‘Dreadtone International’, as well as vocals and writing on Method of Defiance ‘Jahbulon’, and Lee Scratch Perry ‘Rise Again’, dr. Israel is launching an ongoing series of releases, titled ‘The Liberation Chronicles’.  Told through the music and various media related to the project, the story depicts the victory of creativity and love over politics and violence.

The first release in the series, ‘Ghetto Defendant’ was released in January. A multi-media series telling the tale of a dreadlocked insurrectionist battling an evil post corporate empire, the EP contains five powerful songs that fuse dub, dancehall, reggae, rock, dubstep, and hip-hop elements, with commanding hook oriented vocals to create a futuristic musical blend. The remix album, to be released this November, includes bass heavy re-envisioned versions of the original tunes, from producers such as Mochipet, KJ Sawka, Kush Arora, Systemwide, Process Rebel, Tore Finstad, DJ Olive, and Papa Skunk.
