Toure “DJ Toure” Duncan of Hieroglyphics grew up playing drums in church and at school, a passion that soon sparked an interest in production. He started purchasing equipment as a pre-teen and began to teach himself the art of Djing and the skills to become a producer.

As a producer for Hieroglyphics crew and the solo group members, Toure began to make a name for himself in the Bay Area. He began to branch out with production for Dolla Will who was signed to Too $hort’s record label. Since that time he has worked with many independent artists in the Bay Area including Too $hort, E-40, Father Dom, Beeda Weeda, Goapele, and many others. With his production company, 101% Music, Toure has singlehandedly acted as an incubator for new talent in the Bay for Hip Hop, Rap, Soul, R&B and other genres of music.

As a tour DJ Toure has traveled the Americas, Canada and internationally to Japan as a DJ and member of Hieroglyphics and rocked stages alongside the X-Ecutioners, Mos Def, Wu-Tang, Nas, Common, Talib Kweli and countless others. As a drummer Toure has toured as a member of Mystic’s band alongside Black Eyed Peas in Canada and the United States.

sayknowledge: Praised by hip-hop enthusiasts as a young rap prodigy mature beyond his years, sayknowledge has a penchant for matching "highbrow" lyricism, with street accessibility. He has a dizzyingly malleable flow, stretched wide by a broad range of multigenerational pop-culture references. Raised in San Francisco, he started making music at a young age, pushing the hyphy movement with his friends until they saw it slip away into commercialism. Eventually he struck out on his own, forging new sonic paths influenced not only by the Bay Area sound, but also classic R&B, soul, reggae, & funk music. He recently released his first full album entitled "Vibe Called Quest", which was produced Mars Today & Mikos (40Love).

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV.
