Event Description

Cynthia McKinney Speaks on "Latin America, Africa, and Obama" in Upcoming California Tour

Four time Congresswoman of Georgia, '08 Green Party Presidential Candidate, and international peace activist Cynthia McKinney will be doing a speaking tour on "Latin America, Africa, and Obama" as well as launching her book tour for her sophmore release "Ain't Nothing Like Freedom" in California from April 21th-April 26th.

Do not miss the opportunity to hear from Ms. Cynthia McKinney about her recent trip to Caracas to attend the funeral of the late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez. She will speak on the political climate in the country where U.S. diplomats were recently expelled for reportedly planning a coup. She will also speak on her recent work in bringing attention to the international crime known as NATO's invasion of Libya, and the resulting war in Mali. Many are in the dark about the 35 African countries that Obama has targeted to invade in one way or another, and the European scramble for resources on the African continent, Ms. Cynthia McKinney is an expert on the topic, not just because of her extensive career in the U.S. Congress, but because she has been on the ground and has relationships with the grassroots people in these nations that are under siege.

"The Latin America, Africa, and Obama" tour is a fundraiser for the internationally known San Francisco Bay View Newspaper which has been consistently fighting to keep its doors open, in this economic depression in the Black community of Hunter's Point, San Francisco. We know that the Bay View is a political tool that we have to keep to alive so that it can continue to inform us on issues like the War in the Congo, the trials in Haiti, the police shootings around the Bay Area of unarmed Black and Brown men, the Pelican Bay Hunger Strike, and more.

The events will be hosted by Block Report Radio's, exiled from KPFA's Morning Mix, The People's Minister of Information JR Valrey. All events are wheelchair accessible. The suggested donation is $15, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. The tour dates are listed below:

Sunday 4.21 The World Beat Center, 2100 Park Blvd San Diego at 6pm

Monday 4.22 Chuco's Youth Justice Coalition, 1137 E. Redondo Blvd, Inglewood at 6:30pm

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force
