Event Description

Bomb Hip Hop presents
Canada's SWEATSHOP UNION live in SF
with Detroit's PHAT KAT and SF's DJ DESIGN

Sweatshop Union are rapidly becoming known for their distinctly musical conscious hip hop and a live show far beyond the average rap concert. With tens of thousands of sales of their critically acclaimed albums, Sweatshop have toured relentlessly with the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, De La Soul, Swollen Members, and the Living Legends, building a dedicated following. Sweatshop Union are on the rise.

Legendary Detroit emcee and original J Dilla collaborator Phat Kat brought the Detroit underground hip-hop sound to the forefront last year with Carte Blanche. Phat Kat will be in the Bay Area recording his new album Katakombz in September for Look Records and has agreed to bless the mic on this night. The Bay Area's own DJ Design will be backing Phat Kat on the turntables. This super dj/producer was an early member of the Stones Throw roster, releasing the compelling instrumental album Gather Round as well as the "Sparkdala" single with Quasimoto. DJ Design's new album Jetlag hits stores this September.

@ Rickshaw Stop, 155 Fell St., San Francisco, CA

Cole Lumpkin doesn’t create from a distance. He creates from inside the moment. As a New York City native, his artistry reflects motion, curiosity, and constant self-interrogation.
