When N.W.A. hit the scene, their gangsta rap style was highly criticized for promoting drugs and violence, which rapper The D.O.C. begs to differ. In an interview with DJ Vlad, he says it was just artists talking about their realities, "The music didn't make the event, the event caused the music." During the sit-down, the Dallas-born rapper says "the machine" has pushed a lot of rappers with "juice." He explained, when it comes to the circle of life in the industry, conscious artists such as Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have created a balance. "Those guys are bringing conscious on a different level back to production. Even though, it's not as dirty, it's kind of dirty," he told DJ Vlad.
