On the heels of last week’s MF DOOM x Nujabes drop, the mash-up maestro returns with a potent pairing of Griselda’s Benny The Butcher and the late J Dilla on his new Butcherin’ Donuts tape. Though it doesn’t actually feature any instrumentals from the Detroit producer’s 2006 magnum opus, Crates combs through all eras of back-alley collections, offering the brooding Buffalo MC a suite of varying chops and swing levels in a seamless stitch-up, with guest appearances from some of rap’s finest.
The nine-track tape marks a muscular, though unofficial, follow-up to three years of consistently stellar projects from Benny and the Griselda crew, not-so-quietly gaining steam as one of the most sought after squads in rap.
