30 years on from its release on the iconic Strictly Rhythm, Barbara Tucker shares the story behind one of house music’s most loved vocal hits, ‘Beautiful People’.
Written by Tucker, alongside India and Lem Springsteen, the track was produced by Louie Vega and Kenny Dope. Vega used the vocal loop for his Hardrive project, culminating in ‘Deep Inside’ in ’93.
Here, Tucker explains how she came to meet "Little Louie" Vega in New York during the ‘80s, the inspiration behind the lyrics, and the whirlwind of filming Top Of The Pops performances and music videos.
Electronic music history is rich with unforgettable and timeless classics. In our series, DJ Mag explores the tales behind some of the world's favourite dance tracks, told by the people that made them.
