Raashan Ahmad

Raashan Ahmad has been on the grind since his first release as one of the lead M.C.s in the group Mission, who released the self titled album in 1999 (which quickly became a underground fan favorite) and more recently, as well as most notoriously, as the front man for the live hip-hop group Crown City Rockers who released the album Earthtones in 2004 which garnered both critical acclaim from press (Urb Next 100, San Francisco Weekly "Best of the Bay, Jam Base) as well as a strong favorite among music lovers looking for musicality and substance in lyrical content. Crown City Rockers’ single “B-boy” boasts close to 100,000 views on You Tube and the album has sound scanned over 12,000 copies, selling many more “out the trunk”. With his growing reputation as one of hip-hop’s finest M.C.s Raashan has collaborated with the some of the genres brightest and most respected artists (over 50 to date) collecting a tremendous discography with multiple releases in Japan, France, Australia, and North America as well as being on numerous top ten lists. Raashan has toured extensively, performing in front of thousands rocking festivals and dive bars alike and remains intimate with every performance. He has shared stages with every one from Mos Def, Common, Blackalicious, Spearhead and too many others to name.

Now Raashan is finally ready to release his first full-length recording as a solo artist. Pairing up with San Francisco based Om-Records (who he has had several releases with in past years) this album is what fans have been waiting for. The album titled The Push tells a story that goes beyond the surface and explores everything from politics to the personal stories of birth, death, struggle and silver linings. He delivers these stories without leaving the party behind. The beats on the 13 track record are bangers featuring top notch production from DJ Vadim, Headnodic (of Crown City Rockers / Mighty Underdogs), Stro the 89th Key (of The Procussions) and more. The first single “City Feel Proud” features Chali 2na from the group Jurassic 5, production from Eligh of the Living Legends, as well as a remix from Quantic has been already been gaining buzz prior to its’ release. This album shows all sides of the human experience and is sure to broaden this rising stars fan base. The Push promises to be another chapter in this artist’s music career and is a chance for fans to see another side of Raashan Ahmad's that hasn’t been seen before. And he’s still on the grind…finishing the next Crown City Rockers record, touring The Push as well as being featured on several upcoming releases worldwide. Raashan Ahmad , “The Push” Lets GO!

What Peeps Are Saying!

“The Push comes off as a seamless album mixing some excellent lyircal flow and some beats that could only be compiled by someone who has had a lifelong musical interest.” - The Owl Mag

“This is what passion sounds like.” - Xlr8r Magazine

"In his newest LP, The Push, The Crown City Rocker's Raashan Ahmad speaks like a street politician, big brother figure, lover, MC, and struggling layman....And The Push is the soapbox he stands on, the couch where he wraps his arm around his lady's shoulder, the city streets he walks, and the DJ booth he rocks the crowd behind.-Nu soul-2008 - Nu-Soul Magazine

“Boombap, lyrical content, structure and discipline is everything Raashan Ahmad employs in his groundbreaking new album “The Push” that has Hip-Hop moving towards to the masses.” - Da’ Big Playback

“Raashan maintains that old school, golden era hip-hop vibe in his style while simultaneously somehow always managing to sound new and fresh.” - Amoeba Music

‘Chairman’s Choice’ – XXL

“Raashan Ahmad is a nice reminder of how good Hip Hop can get.” - Vapors

"Raashan Ahmad inhabits a particularly tenuous position in the current hip-hop spectrum: somewhere between the conscious stylings of early Mos Def and the mainstream mindset of Kanye West." - Pop Matters

‘The Push’ is a reminder of an altogether more organic strain of Hip Hop,’ - Hip Hop Connection
