No Valentine’s Day playlist is complete without a little Donell Jones. The R&B veteran has shared a new seven-track album titled 100% Free. It marks his first studio effort since 2013’s Forever. It’s also one of two promised new albums from Jones.
Jones decided to release a new album after a seven-year hiatus in the middle of the pandemic last year. Realizing that so many of his fans worldwide were undergoing financial hardships due to the pandemic, he wanted to release an album at no cost. The album’s title itself exceeded the monetary aspect, though.
“That name resonated with me because there’s a lot of things we need to be free from, like negative thinking,” said Jones to Ryan J. Dennis of 11Alive. “We spend too much time on the phone. We spend too much time on social media. I just felt like sometimes we over-consume drugs. Sometimes we over-consume a lot of alcohol. So, my whole idea with this was to really make some great music and just giving some love back to the world because I think we’re really in a time where we need to focus on that and come together.”
