Talib Kweli announced several weeks ago that he was stepping away from Twitter to focus on his Patreon. But a recent report suggests the move wasn't by choice.
A spokesperson for the social media site told Jezebel that Kweli had been suspended following "repeated violations." The confirmation came weeks after the Brooklyn rapper was accused of launching a harassment campaign against a woman named Maya A. Moody.
"[Talib Kweli’s] account has been permanently suspended after repeated violations of the Twitter rules," the spokesperson told Jezebel. "Twitter's purpose is to serve the public conversation. Violence, harassment and other similar types of behavior discourage people from expressing themselves, and ultimately diminish the value of global public conversation. Our rules are to ensure all people can participate in the public conversation freely and safely."
