On Thursday, Black Star member Yasiin Bey wore a crewneck that read ‘White Lies Matter,’ opposing Ye’s recent controversial statements.
Looks like Yasiin Bey isn’t on Ye’s side this time around. On Thursday (October 6), the Black Star member posted a collaborative image on Instagram with Spanish-Moroccan artist Anuar Khalifi of himself wearing an ensemble that replicated Ye’s recent controversial t-shirt. However, instead of reading ‘White Lives Matter,’ Bey removed the white ‘V’ from the back of the crewneck, the message appearing to be ‘White Lies Matter.’
In another image, Bey models a Virgil Abloh snapback and a sleeveless white shirt with German philosopher Georg Hegel on the front. Despite three different versions of the shirt appearing in Bey and Khalifi’s post, it’s currently unavailable on Khalifi’s online shop. The post’s caption reads “AyYa,” which Khalifi explains is “conceived by artists as a collaboration that brings together their shared interests and ideas, through fashion, art and music.”
