The Wu-Tang Clan‘s big and small screen invasion is fully underway. Next Sunday, January 28th, the first of two upcoming television series based on the origins of the Shaolin assassins will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
Directed by Sacha Jenkins (Fresh Dressed and Burn Motherfucker, Burn!,) Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men is a four-part docuseries with interviews from all living members of the group. The first half the series will make its debut at the acclaimed film festival and air on Showtime at some point this year. Details remain skim, but the project was developed adjacently to a dramatized Wu-Tang TV series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, which was picked up by Hulu, though it also remains without an air date at this time.
And while we may have to wait a bit for civilian eyes and ears to have their chance at Wu-Tang’s various documented histories, earlier this week, the group announced the Gods of Rap tour with De La Soul and Public Enemy, playing three consecutive nights in the UK this May.
Hold tight for updates on both television project in the weeks and months ahead.
