Straight out the FEDS, a group of women have united to produce hip-hop music. These courageous females call themselves "The Pink Panther Clique." Three of the five members of the music group were sentenced to serve decade plus terms in federal prison for non-violent crimes. Motivated to create awareness about the epidemic of women & mass incarceration, these women have utilized hip-hop music as a means to tell their stories. "The Pink Panther Clique" is apart of the WomenOverIncarcerated movement, spearheaded by Jamila T. Davis, a 39 year old, federal prisoner, who is also a member of the group. After being sentenced in 2008 to serve 12 1/2 years behind bars for bank fraud, Davis has become an active prison reform activist.

While incarcerated she's written over a dozen books, co-founded a non-profit organization, produced several films, including the upcoming reality show "Left Behind," and jump started a nationally circulated magazine, all to create awareness for the cause. Her latest endeavor is hip-hop music from behind bars, with the production of the "Pink Panther Clique Music" EP. The hip-hop EP features veteran rapper Sonja Holder aka Sonja Blade (@therealsonjablade), who is serving a 50 month sentence for drug and money laundering charges, Aisha Hall (@therealaishahall), a rapper, best selling author and screen writer serving a 10 1/2 year sentence for wire fraud, Felicia Holt (music_is_life_2011), a singer/rapper serving a 45 month sentence for drug charges, Catherine Johnson, a music producer and singer serving a 12 1/2 year sentence for drug charges, along with Jamila T. Davis, who is also a rapper. "The Pink Panther Clique Music" EP is scheduled for release in July. It is accompanied with the upcoming urban-fiction book series "The Pink Panther Clique," loosely based on the women's stories. It is written in collaboration with New York Times Best Selling Author, Wahida Clark (@wahidaclark), Aisha Hall (@therealaishahall), Sunshine Smith-Williams (@sunnymoneyqueens) and Jamila T. Davis (@jamilatdavis). Through hip-hop music and the creative arts, these women are committed to turning their pain into purpose and recapturing their dreams!
