Back in February, Oakland-based collective SOL Development — made up of Brittany Tanner, Felicia Gangloff-Bailey, Karega Bailey, and Lauren Adams — dropped their debut album The SOL of Black Folk.
The politically charged album was partially inspired by the words of Nina Simone: “an artist’s duty is to reflect the times.” One of the standouts from the album is the powerful closer, “Source of Light.”
The band recently appeared at the Brooklyn showcase HighBreedMusic. Every week, the venue features a performance from an indepdenet artist or band. HighBreedMusic then takes that footage, cuts it, and uploads it for the world to enjoy.
