Turntable and mixer manufacturer Vestax has filed for bankruptcy, a Japanese news outlet has confirmed.

In October we reported that the gear maker appeared to have gone out of business after being absent from trade shows and going quiet on social media. As RA reports, a story posted today by the Teikoku Databank, a Japanese business news website, confirms that Vestax ended its business operations at the end of August and officially entered bankruptcy proceedings in Tokyo District Court on December 5.
The company has liabilities of around 900 million yen, or approximately $7.5 million. Vestax’s Facebook page has disappeared and its regional websites are either blank, missing or long out of date.
The Vestax PMC-05pro mixer has long been a popular choice for hip hop-inclined DJs, and the company has made signature models for Carl Cox and DJ Qbert. The Vestax Handy Trax turntable also featured in The Vinyl Factory’s rundown of the eight best portable turntables.
