Sean Price’s Imperius Rex album is less than a week away. To build anticipation for the beloved MC’s posthumous LP, Duck Down releases “The 3 Lyrical P’s.” Among the album with features from DOOM, Method Man, and members of Boot Camp Clik, this track speaks for itself. Styles P and the late Prodigy join Sean Price. All three MCs made their debuts in the mid-1990s and are artists known for the emphatic “P’s”…in their names and in their ad-libs.

The commonalities only begin there. Across the landscape, these artists fought for hardcore lyrical Rap in New York City through times when catchy choruses, instructional dances, and other forces combated the Rap purist’s essence. Sadly, when this song was arranged, few could have predicted that 2/3 of its vocal performers would not live to hear it upon release.
