Saba & His Band Bring One Of 2018’s Best Albums To LIFE (Video)

BY BANDINI • OCTOBER 1, 2018

In the first week of April, Chicago, Illinois MC Saba released his sophomore album, CARE FOR ME. The 24-year-old artist many Heads first heard on Chance The Rapper’s Acid Rap or his Coloring Book has stood out on his own with a strong and growing body of work.

Following 2016’s Bucket List Project, CARE FOR ME is a deep dive into mental health and current state of mind. However, that does not mean that the West Side of Chicago native makes music that is always a weighty listen. The album has moments of joy, flashes of nostalgia, and lots of personal revelation. Standing with the musicians who he used on the album, Saba performs four songs from the release and shows its spectrum of feelings.

Notably, the band contains Saba’s father, Chandler, providing some background vocals. Additionally, the LP’s co-producers Daoud and daedaePIVOT are part of the act. During a charming Tiny Desk concert, Saba takes viewers on a tour for why his LP is so unique. He begins at opener “BUSY / SIRENS,” veers into the Chance-assisted “LOGOUT,” and then closes with candor on a medley of “HEAVEN ALL AROUND ME” and “LIFE.”
