Rudy Giuliani Disbarred Following Defamation Case and Election Misinformation
Rudy Giuliani, former New York City Mayor and one-time attorney for Donald Trump, has been disbarred following a series of legal and professional setbacks. The Manhattan appeals court’s decision to disbar Giuliani was announced on Tuesday, citing his repeated dissemination of false statements regarding the 2020 presidential election.
The court’s ruling comes in the wake of a substantial defamation of character lawsuit that Giuliani lost last year. He was ordered to pay $148 million to two Georgia poll workers whom he falsely accused of rigging the election in favor of Joe Biden. This verdict marked a significant blow to Giuliani, both financially and reputationally.
