On a producers panel on the Rock The Bells Cruise, Pete Rock shared the emotional making of the Pete Rock & CL Smooth hit "T.R.O.Y."
"When I mixed that song I had Charlie Brown [of Leaders of the New School] and a bunch of people in the studio, and everybody started crying," the "Lots of Lovin'" produced shared. "I was flushed with emotion and I had to leave the room, and it was crazy because my man just passed away. This song was torturing my soul."
"T.R.O.Y.," which is an acronym for "They Reminisce Over You," was released in 1992 as part of Pete Rock & CL Smooth's debut album, Mecca & The Soul Brother. The song was a dedication to Trouble T. Roy, a member of Heavy D & The Boyz who had recently passed away.
