In a report from The Daily Beast, Jefferson County District Attorney Lynneice Washington said it would not be in the interest of justice to pursue charges against Jones in what she called a “disturbing and heartbreaking case.”

Marshae Jones, the Alabama woman who was indicted and charged with manslaughter for her unborn baby’s death during a shooting, will find out Wednesday if she’s responsible for the baby’s death.

In a report from CNN, Jefferson County district attorney Lynneice Washington is expected to announce her decision on the recommended charge against Jones.

Last week, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted Jones and charged her with manslaughter. Washington will either proceed with the grand jury’s charge, reduce it, or not charge Jones at all. Since manslaughter is a Class B felony in Alabama, Jones could face up to 20 years in prison if charged.

The 27-year-old Jones is being blamed for the death of her unborn baby because she initiated a dispute that led to the shooting that resulted in the baby’s death. The incident occurred back in December 2018, when police were dispatched to a Dollar General after receiving a report of someone being shot.
