NOAH YOO FEB 3 2018Justin Timberlake is scheduled to give the Super Bowl Halftime show tomorrow night at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, with fans wondering whether he’ll try to reform his old boy band *NSYNC or bring out Janet Jackson to echo his first Super Bowl show back in 2004. New reports indicate that Timberlake’s set will feature neither of those things, but it will include a previous Super Bowl Halftime performer. According to TMZ, the halftime show will feature a hologram of Prince, honoring the late musician in his hometown. Prince did the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2007, performing several of his hits in the pouring rain.
The idea of a Prince hologram was floated by Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson last April. After initial reports of the hologram surfaced, longtime collaborator Sheila E. has stated it would be against the late musician’s wishes. Pitchfork has reached out to reps for Timberlake and Prince’s estate for more information.
