Gilles Peterson celebrates the life of late South African leader Nelson Mandela with an extended mix from his recent BBC6 tribute featuring songs of hope and freedom. The 15-track mix features tracks from Vusi Mahlasela, Abdullah Ibrahim, Hugh Masakela,Gil Scott-Heron, Sathima Bea Benjamin, John Wizards, Miles Davis, Letta Mbulu and more. The compositions included were carefully chosen to reflect the legacy of Nelson Mandela and the greater spirit of South Africa – a nation whose struggles and triumphs have undoubtedly impacted the world.
