Fab 5 Freddy's Priceless Hip-Hop Archive Donated to Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture

Fab 5 Freddy is blessing Harlem’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture with a singular hip-hop archive.
According to a New York Times, the NYC-based institution has inherited 120 boxes from Freddy’s collection for preservation alongside the papers of James Baldwin and Sonny Rollins. Spanning eras and mediums, the archive is comprised of audio, photos, fliers, VHS tapes, vinyl, and defunct merchandise, ranging from From Yo! MTV Raps tees to rare footage of Basquiat to a draft of the New Jack City screenplay to a tape reel recording from the night Malcolm X was assassinated.
The Schomberg Center will eventually make the archive available to the public, though a precise date has yet to be announced. Catch an intimate glimpse at spotlight items from the archive in the NYT profile and hold tight for updates in the months ahead.
