Doechii Named Billboard’s 2025 Woman Of The Year After Historic Grammy Win
Rising rap sensation Doechii is having a moment, and it’s well deserved. Billboard has officially named her its 2025 Woman of the Year, placing her in the esteemed company of past honorees like Taylor Swift, SZA, Lady Gaga, and last year’s recipient, Karol G. During her emotional acceptance speech at the Grammys, Doechii acknowledged the rarity of her win. “This category was introduced in 1989. Two women have won, Lauryn Hill—” she paused to correct herself. “Three women have won. Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii.” The moment was a defining one, cementing her place in the rap game’s history books.
Doechii’s Grammy-winning project, Alligator Bites Never Heal, was widely praised for its genre-blending sound and deeply personal storytelling. The Associated Press even named it one of the best albums of 2024, highlighting her versatility, from smooth R&B melodies to razor-sharp rap flows.
