Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis don’t do many free Rock & Roll shows. The Clash don’t play too many Punk shows anymore. However, Hip-Hop Heads are blessed with the opportunity to still see pioneers at work, and for not a single penny. This weekend, Hip-Hop’s Godfather, DJ Kool Herc, will headline a block party in his backyard of the Bronx, New York, for free. Joining Herc will be host, Grandmaster Caz (Cold Crush Brothers/Cold Crush IV), scratch-inventor Grand Wizard Theodore, A.G. (D.I.T.C.), Sadat X (Brand Nubian), YC The Cynic, and plenty more. It all goes down June 21, at The Bronx Heritage Center, from 4-8pm. After a Hip-Hop showcase, the native Jamaican, Herc, will reportedly break into some Reggae crates for added flavor.
Leaving, breathing Hip-Hop that can be touched. Flyer below:
Props to ego trip! on the news-tip.
