After the successful string of socially-distanced cornfield shows Dave Chappelle held in Yellow Springs, Ohio, it makes sense that the comedian would follow that up by building his own actual comedy club.

In a report from local news outlet WHIO TV 7, Chappelle was recently approved to begin construction for a comedy club and restaurant, which will be called “Live From YS” and “Firehouse Eatery,” respectively, during a planning commission meeting on Tuesday. The restaurant will be open everyday until 10 p.m., and the comedy club will have shows scheduled four days a week, between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

“I’m not just trying to make a club, I’m trying to make a way. I’m trying to make a venue for our talents to be showcased, as well as my friends’ talents, so we can shine and be all the great things we can be in the world,” Chappelle said.

“If we build this thing, I will tell you, all the greats will come. They’re very excited about it,” Chappelle added.

It’ll be interesting to see what Chappelle does with the comedy club. His cornfield shows brought a number of other comedians and entertainers to Yellow Springs, including Chris Rock, Jim Carrey, Tiffany Haddish, Questlove, and Michelle Wolf. It was during these shows that he also did his incredible 8:46 short that was centered around the death of George Floyd.
