Irish band scraps U.S. tour, Bay Area shows citing political ‘witch-hunt’
Irish rap trio Kneecap has canceled its upcoming sold-out U.S. tour, including two Bay Area shows, due to a terrorism charge.
The group, which has sparked controversy over the past six months for its pro-Palestinian statements, was expected to kick off the tour on Oct. 1 in New York, with performances scheduled at the Independent in San Francisco on Oct. 27, and Oakland’s Fox Theater on Oct. 28. All 15 concerts were canceled on Monday, Aug. 25.
