Event Description

Heavy grooves from jazz greats. A power-packed meeting of highly influential jazz instrumentalists, The Wolff & Clark Expedition is the brainchild of keyboardist and composer Michael Wolff and drummer Mike Clark; with Hailey Niswanger on saxes and Kenny Davis on bass. Wolff has done memorable work with Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Tom Harrell, and as musical director to Nancy Wilson. He served for five years as bandleader and musical director on The Arsenio Hall Show, and formed a band with Clark called Impure Thoughts that would eventually evolve into the aptly named Wolff & Clark Expedition. Sacramento-born Clark is a purebred jazz artist, a primary architect of the revolutionary East Bay style of linear funk drumming, and one of the most sampled drummers in modern hip-hop and R&B. Best known as part of Herbie Hancock s groundbreaking Headhunters band of the early 1970s, Clark recorded the 1974 jazz/funk masterpiece Thrust with Hancock and has continued to work with various incarnations of the Headhunters as well as with Donald Harrison, Larry Coryell, Tony Bennett.

Cole Lumpkin Moves With the Music, Letting Life Shape Every Note

Cole Lumpkin doesn’t create from a distance. He creates from inside the moment. As a New York City native, his artistry reflects motion, curiosity, and constant self-interrogation. Music for Lumpkin isn’t something you step into once everything is figured out. It’s something you carry with you, refine on the move, and allow to grow alongside real life. A self-taught…See More
