The Jazz Mafia—an intricately woven collective of jazz virtuosos, top MCs, singers, arrangers, and composers that include many of the Bay Area’s most innovative and prolific musical forces—are celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary at the Mezzanine in San Francisco, CA on November 13, 2010. This unforgettable night will feature performances by more than 35 Jazz Mafia musicians, performing complete sets from their various acts, including The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, Brass Mafia, Joe Bagale, Dublin, Teeko, Crystal Monee Hall, and Spaceheater's Blast Furnace. The grand finale of the event will be a once-in-a-lifetime performance of The Realistic Orchestra doing an entire set of LATYRX material accompanied by the Latyrx MC's, Lateef the Truthspeaker and Lyrics Born. This show will mark as the first Latyrx show in the Bay Area in over 3 years!

This celebration comes on the heels of the Jazz Mafia's 2010 summer tour, where they performed their critically acclaimed 45 piece hip-hop symphony, "Brass, Bows & Beats", in front of thousands at major festivals nationwide including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, and the Monterey Jazz Festival. The 60-piece incarnation of Jazz Mafia that came together last year for two sold-out performances of “Brass, Bows & Beats” at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts was recorded for a live album and released June 8th, 2010 on Jazz Mafia Recordings.

Legendary hip-hop duo Latyrx, a combination of its members' names, Lateef the Truth Speaker and Lyrics Born, released an acclaimed, eponymous debut album (also known as "The Album") in 1997, with production work from DJ Shadow. Later that year, the "Muzapper's Mixes EP" was issued; however, the only new release from the duo before the turn of the century was a remix collection, Muzapper's Remixes, which appeared in 1999 along with the reissue of the duo's debut. Lyrics Born and Lateef the Truth Speaker have both gone on with their prospective solo careers, releasing countless LP's, and touring the world. Do not miss this rare chance to see Latryx perform together again backed by the Realistic Orchestra!
