B. Bravo (Frite Nite, Bayonics) DJ Platurn (Oakland Faders, 45 Sessions) Tickets: http://www.ticketfly.com/event/158565?utm_source=mezzsite THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE Consisting of rapper/singer/songwriter Phonte a href="http://www.theforeignexchangemusic.com/phonte/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow nofollow">http://www.theforeignexchangemusic.com/phonte/> and producer Nicolay a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theforeignexchangemusic.com%2Fnicolay%2F&h=qAQEqLEf2&s=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow nofollow">http://www.theforeignexchangemusic.com/nicolay/> , The Foreign Exchange came together via the online hip-hop community Okayplayer.com in 2002. After trading files through Instant Messenger for over a year, Nicolay (living in his native Holland at the time) and Phonte (a Raleigh, NC resident) completed their debut album before they ever met each other in person. The album, "Connected a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theforeignexchangemusic.com%2F2004%2F08%2Fconnected.php&h=DAQGehvjd&s=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow nofollow">http://www.theforeignexchangemusic.com/2004/08/connected.php> ," was released in 2004 to positive reviews, and was praised by legendary DJ's such as Jazzy Jeff, King Britt, and DJ Spinna for its inventive mix of hip-hop, R&B, and electronica. Their sophomore album, "Leave It All Behind a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theforeignexchangemusic.com%2F2008%2F10%2Fleave-it-all-behind.php&h=OAQGqCQFO&s=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow nofollow">http://www.theforeignexchangemusic.com/2008/10/leave-it-all-behind.php> " (2008) found The Foreign Exchange much closer in geography (Nicolay becoming a resident of Wilmington, NC), but located much further from their hip-hop origins. On the strength of their exhilarating live show and several nationally programmed music videos, "Leave It All Behind" became the group's most successful album to date, culminating in a Grammy-nomination for the album's first single, "Daykeeper". "Authenticity a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theforeignexchangemusic.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fauthenticity.php&h=rAQHurEob&s=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow nofollow">http://www.theforeignexchangemusic.com/2010/06/authenticity.php> ," released on October 12, 2010 on +FE Music, is The Foreign Exchange’s third album. |
