Sister Nancy, aka Muma Nancy, is known to the world as the first female dancehall deejay (singer) and has been a pioneering force in reggae music for more than 40 years. She is best known for the dancehall anthem, 1982’s “Bam Bam.” Originally recorded in 1966 by Toots and the Maytals, it is Sister Nancy's version that has been re-recorded and sampled over 80 times, by the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Lauryn Hill. Born Ophlin Russell in Kingston, Jamaica, Sister Nancy was one of 15 siblings, and followed her brother Brigadier Jerry to the stage while still a teenager. In 1980, producer Winston Riley was the first to take her into the studio, resulting in her first single, "Papa Dean" for his Techniques label. She went on to perform at Reggae Sunsplash, making her the first female deejay ever to perform there. She was also the first female Jamaican deejay to tour internationally. She found success with her debut album, One Two, and went on to work and collaborate with producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes, Yellowman, and others.  Sister Nancy has been a role model for a successive generation of female acts, including Lady Saw, Sister Carol, Macka Diamond, Lady G, Shelly Thunder, Carla Marshall, Lorna G, Lady English, and Lady P. With classics like “Only Woman D.J. With Degree,” "Roof Over Mi Head,” and “Transport Connection,” she remains a charismatic performer who knows how to command a stage.

DJ Sep is a long-time Bay Area DJ/producer and the founder of Dub Mission, one of the longest-running Reggae clubs in the world (1996-2019). She spins dub, reggae, dancehall, bass, Jungle/DnB, and Afrobeats. For 22 years, Sep was also on Bay Area radio, first on the legendary college radio station KUSF, and later on Berkeley’s public radio station, KPFA. Sep has spun at festivals and clubs in Spain, the U.K., Canada, Mexico, many cities in the U.S., and most clubs in the greater Bay Area. She has presented and opened for a long list of reggae and electronic artists, including Lee Perry, The Scientist, Mad Professor, Sister Nancy, Sly & Robbie, Toots and The Maytals, Mykal Rose, Mungo's Hi Fi, Adrian Sherwood, Tippa Irie, The Wailers, Quantic, Akae Beka (aka Midnite), Hollie Cook, and many others.
