Pacific Standard Time proudly reps the West Coast, but more than anything stands for musical innovation from ALL points on the map, west and east, north and south.

Two of the most important musical cities of the past 30 years will be repped to the highest level this Tuesday night at PST. Philadelphia, which has given us not only the disco innovations of Gamble and Huff, The Sound of Philadelphia (TSOP), and the foundation of the Neosoul movement of the early 2000s but drummer/producer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson whose band the Roots have spawned an entire musical movement of their own; and Detroit, where techno music was birthed, electronic music of all forms was pushed forward by leaps and bounds, and where a young producer named J Dilla rescued hip-hop from the throes of commercial irrelevance in the late 1990s.

Perhaps no two people better symbolize their cities than DJ ?uestlove and DJ House Shoes, who has gone from J Dilla friend and collaborator to worldwide ambassador for Detroit hip-hop. Having either of them on set to spin for us in the Bay Area is a special occasion; having both of them on the same night is HISTORICAL.
