AWARDS...

Voted #42 DJ in the World in 2008 [DJMag.com]

Nominated "BEST TECH HOUSE ARTIST" of 2008 [Beatport Music Awards]
Nominated "BEST TECH HOUSE TRACK" of 2008 [Beatport Music Awards]
Nominated "BEST RECORD LABEL PROMOTER OR EXEC" [International Dance Music Awards]

Mark Knight has forged himself a reputation as one of the foremost house producers on the planet, shaping the scene with his Toolroom imprint. A string of consistently hot productions and skilfully written remixes (from Kylie through to Underworld) have secured ongoing success at the top of the dance charts - highlights of this year include Mark’s INCREDIBLE remake of Laurent Garnier’s epic ‘Man With The Red Face’ (officially Beatport’s FASTEST ever selling record, and 1 on their chart for 3 consecutive weeks!!) Last year’s hits include his 'Colombian Soul' collaboration with D.Rameriez (one of the biggest records to come out of 2007) and a destructive mix of Axwell, Angello, Ingrosso and Laidback Luke's 'Get Dumb'.

Having stormed the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll as one of this year’s highest new entries - Mark is now officially ranked 51 in the world, and for the second year running has won ‘Best DJ’ at the KISS 100 Awards. Setting the standard Mark is a DJ who’s technical ability is second to none – his sets are a real musical journey that range from driving techy sounds through to deep progressive main room beats, and now with the added VJ element Mark pushes the boundaries of technology even further, Djing both audio and video via live DVD mixing, which allows him to really stamp his personality on the night, expressing himself through the images and custom video content, connecting with his audience on another level.

It’s been a steady rise for Mark from securing his residency at the infamous Ministry of Sound in 2003 - the place where his ability to command and rock a dance floor has since been both tested and truly perfected. In 2004 with a soaring profile and a growing fan base, Mark launched ‘Toolroom Records’ – initially as an output for his own production. As house music returned to its underground roots the label embodied this shift and began re-shaping the scene with its own distinctive sound - the ‘Toolroom Sound’, releasing quality, cutting edge tracks at a time when the scene was lacking originality.

Never one to rest on his laurels Mark launched ‘Toolroom Knights’ at Amsterdam’s ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) in October 2006 to an amzed crowd. The night, based around the label’s (Toolroom Records), and Mark’s distinctive sound introduced the underground sound of Toolroom to the overground, and have gone on to host parties at key cities across the world. Already with established residencies at Ministry of Sound (London), Redlight (Paris), Cocoon (Frankfurt), Sankey’s (Manchester) This summer Mark raises the bar and takes Toolroom Knights to the White Isle kicking off it’s first Ibiza residency, hosting the infamous Terrace at Amnesia on Tuesday’s (launching July 1st)

From the start of his Ministry residency in 2003 through to the launch of ‘Toolroom Knights’, and now having fully embraced the audio-visual technology Mark Knight is a DJ/producer whose dedication and talent are apparent within his consistently mind-blowing productions, DJ sets and parties. Mark has established his status as a world premier DJ/producer, and continues to build a solid worldwide fan base.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV.
