Event Description

CHURCH ~ Album Launch ~ Oakland Edition

CHURCH is Mark de Clive-Lowe’s LA/NYC clubnight party that he describes as “equal parts jazz club, electronic remix experiment and dance party”. It tells the story of his personal musical trajectory over the course of a night. Featuring a delicious combination of Mark's favoritemusicians, singers, MCs, DJs and surprise guests, CHURCH has made the rounds worldwide and the heads all agree, it's incredibly special. The new album by the same name has captured the vibe of the live show as well as ears and hearts of our global musichead community. It's beautiful. Bananas Inc. is trilled to invite you to this very special event at The New Parish. We can't wait to hear this album performed LIVE!

The good word on CHURCH ...

"an underground phenom..." – (Okayplayer)

"if Duke Ellington was a DJ this is what he may have done" - (LA Weekly)

Half Japanese, half New Zealand, LA-based pianist, composer, producer, DJ and live remixer Mark de Clive-Lowe (MdCL) is a rare kind of musician. As at-home sitting behind the grand piano as he is creating body-grooving beats on the fly, his sonic vocabulary fearlessly integrates everything from classic house-music records to a full-size big band to hard-hitting electronic beats… completely live.
An acclaimed veteran of London’s turn-of-the-century ‘Broken Beat’ scene, CHURCH sees MdCL embrace his first love – jazz – via the filter of a life-long journey through electronics, dancefloors and across continents.
Featuring very special guests and surprises joining MdCL, CHURCH is "an unmissable experience" - (Giant Step)

"(the) avant-garde soulful Pianist/DJ/Producer delivers his lifetime of journeys to different musical ports in a concise package, seamlessly... transporting not just in genre but in emotion and spirit." - (Huffington Post)

Sparoh’s “Panama” Delivers a Powerful Message of Confidence and Creative Freedom

Influenced by trailblazers like Joyce Kennedy,…See More
