Event Description

Funk Drunk Champion Sound & CakeMIX are proud to present Marcus Lambkin, aka SHIT ROBOT (dfa records).

Marcus is best known for his affiliation with DFA records. Marcus linked up with James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem/DFA) coincidently at Plant Records in NYC. James and Marcus started throwing the "Plant Party". Plant parties continued for many years in many different venues around NYC, culminating in the boys opening their own venue, Plant Bar.

With the help of Plant Bar’s stellar, James Murphy designed, DFA sound system and the likes of Luke Jenner of the Rapture bartending, plant bar became an East Village staple and a became a must stop by for any visiting DJ’s. London’s Face magazine called it “New York’s coolest and loudest bar” and everybody from Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim), Ad Rock (The Beastie Boys), Germany’s DJ Koze, Felix The Housecat (an afterhours regular) and many more stopped by and played some records to an enthusiastic, well lubricated crowd.

It was also at Plant Bar that the Shit Robot party started with Marcus and James at the helm. This was a party where you could hear the Stooges and Can next to altern8 and nexus21. It was not a regular party, but somehow, the name stuck.

Marcus has since been working on his debut album for DFA, which will be released later this year and continues to tour the U.S and Europe. His latest track "Simple Things (Work It Out)" made quite a splash when it came out in July.

Supporting will be Drunk Funk Champion Sound residents Tal M. Klein and Chardmo who promise not to behave themselves. Tal's had a busy release schedule this year, with his latest EP, a collaborative project with Anthony Mansfield and The Hardway Brothers called "Magical Horses" coming out on Aniligital Music in November. They'll be championing some heavy space disco and funk for your trunk.

The Hated Crew to Release Highly Anticipated Album “DNA” June 5th

More than just another project, DNA represents the core identity of The Hated Crew—its influences, struggles, sound, and artistic vision woven together into one cohesive body of work. The title itself reflects the idea that music is embedded in the group’s very makeup. Every track explores the elements that form their musical “genetic code”: rhythm, storytelling,…See More

Cole Lumpkin Moves With the Music, Letting Life Shape Every Note

Cole Lumpkin doesn’t create from a distance. He creates from inside the moment. As a New York City native, his artistry reflects motion, curiosity, and constant self-interrogation. Music for Lumpkin isn’t something you step into once everything is figured out. It’s something you carry with you, refine on the move, and allow to grow alongside real life. A self-taught…See More
