Event Description

What's good folks,
On Thursday May 9th, there will be blood in the water, smoke in the air, and fire on the stage: It’s the OAKLAND SEMIFINALS for this years Bay Area Unified Slam Team. That's right, the folks from the SF, Berkeley and Oakland Slams are once again joining forces to send one super squad off to rep the Bay at The National Slam in August (this year in Boston MA). Each venue has held slams over the course of the season and poets have competed and qualified to take it to the next level. This is that next level, best believe the competition will be fierce!

We'll also have a very short open-mic before the Slam, just because we like to always welcome new folks and non-slammers to the mic.

The following poets are qualified to compete for just THREE spots in Bay Area Unified Finals (lineup subject to change):

Dre Johnson
Michael Wayne Turner III
Dahled Jeffries
Patrick Ohslund
Lee Knight, Jr.
Sevan Boult
Leo Bryant
Tristissima
Jaz Sufi

Come cheer for your favorite poets and help raise funds to send the Bay Area Unified team to Boston for the National Poetry Slam!
