April 2009 marks the debut DVD release of “BAY AREA CYPHER”, a performance documentary that blends live freestyle presentations with short interviews to document the unique creativity of Hip Hop in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Through the Hip Hop elements of rhyme and dance this documentary highlights the spiritual and communal aspects of Hip Hop culture, showing how improvisational freestyle is key to manifesting a higher energetic vibration.
The piece incorporates footage shot on location in the Bay Area including the Guerilla Café in Berkeley, CA, the East Side Arts Alliance in East Oakland, West Oakland’s Lower Bottoms Black Cultural District, and The DJ Project in San Francisco, CA.
