Event Description

Local - Music - Community. We've got the bands, the venue, and the beer - all you need to do is #getwithit. We see a lot of music. Famous bands on big stages, local acts in loud bars. We love the spectacle and the energy of big shows, but miss the community feel and intimacy of seeing local bands play live. So we re combining the best of both worlds with Are you with it? . The showcase features 3 bands you probably haven t heard of that we think you need to know. Molly with Charles Molly with Charles is a Bay Area-based collaboration between singer Molly Arizona and composer Charles Nutrivore. Their style ranges from smooth contemporary R&B to upbeat neo-soul. The band draws a lot of inspiration from the exacting, soulful minimalism of artists like Sade, Frank Ocean and John Mayer, and their live performances have drawn comparisons to popular neo-soul groups such as Hiatus Kiayote, Daniel Caesar and Phony Ppl. Their work is also a testament to the diversity of the Bay Area music scene, with contributions from Vacaville jazz trumpeters, South Berkeley rappers and Oakland guitarists. The duo has released two EPs and is currently working on their first full length album. The Rare Occasions The Rare Occasions are a 4 piece indie rock band from Los Angeles. The band first turned heads in their native Providence, Rhode Island when they won the WBRU Rock Hunt, headlined the Summer Concert Series at Waterplace Park, and performed in front of packed audiences at Lupo s Heartbreak Hotel and The Met. Meanwhile, they tore through the Boston club circuit, building a dedicated following. The Rare Occasions went on to perform for festival audiences at SXSW and CMJ, as well as open for international touring acts, including Guster, Dirty Heads, Lupe Fiasco, AJR, and Knox Hamilton. Dysphoric took home the coveted Song of the Year award in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2014. Currently the band has been expanding their West Coast presence and establishing themselves in Los Angeles. In the midst of all their live shows, the band recorded a set of new material and released it this may. They re currently on tour promoting their debut album The Erik Brock Band With a unique blend of folk rock and blue-eyed soul, the Erik Brock band offers a refreshing spin on traditional lyric driven storytelling. The four piece group has been playing together since March 2018 and has it's sights on recording their first EP, followed by a West Coast fall tour.
